a) Juniperus drupaceae forest in Malevi Monastery:
it is is the area around and south of the monastery of Malevi. Here there is one of the most valuable forests of Juniperus drupaceae, in an area of 740 sq. km., which according to FEK 121D/1980 has been declared "Preserved Monument of Nature". At the same time, in the area exist other rare plant species like the tulip of Orfanidis, the local endemic cyclamen the Peloponnesian, etc.
b) Moustos Wetland:
hosts many rare, endangered and protected species of birds and aquatic birds. The importance of the wetland concerns mainly in its use as a rest and refueling station during their migrations. Moreover, it is the largest and the only worthwhile size wetland in the eastern Peloponnese and the first to encounter in the north migratory birds that follow the eastern shores of Greece. Although it is relatively small (approximately 1600 remaining acres), it shows various individual wetland habitats and species. Another important area corresponding to the avifauna and other wildlife has not been detected in mount Parnon.
In these areas only scientific research is allowed and no human activity of brief or of permanent nature of intervention in the natural environment.
