Archaiological - Historical Sites
In this region there are important archeological sites such as:
- the villa of Herodes Atticus, which recently came to light in Doliana, which is the rich collection in the region.
- the archeological site of Thyrea, an ancient fortressed settlement from the Mycenaean years,
- relics of a square tower-post positioned at Elliniko of Charadros, 3km east of the village, which is likely to have been built by people from Argos in order to control the surrounding area and the road from the beach to the inside,
- the archeological site of Plaka (4km N of Leonidio) located within the ancient fortified village of Vrasiai, on the beach of Leonidio, which flourished during the Roman and post-Roman years,
- Panitsa's walls, the homonymous hill near Agios Andreas, on the road to Astros - Leonidio, where the first half of the 6th century BC separated the areas of Argos and Sparta. Later all of Kynouria was subjugated to the Spartans,
- the archeological site of Tiros, an ancient fortressed settlement on a hill with a wall in the north of Tiros, which probably flourished in the Hellenistic years, but continued to exist and in the Roman years,
- the archeological site of Anthini, an ancient fortressed settlement with acropolis from the 5th century BC, around the "island" of Agios Andreas.
- the archeological site of Tegea with the temple of Athena Alea and the ancient theater of Tegea, the tombs of Menelaos in Pellana - the ancient city of Sparta and many others.
