Παρουσία του μύκητα Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis στην Ελλάδα

Ο Φορέας Διαχείρισης ενημερώνει τους κατοίκους της προστατευόμενης περιοχής όρους Πάρνωνα και υγροτόπου Μουστού για πιθανή επικείμενη παρουσία σε υγροτοπικές περιοχές (λίμνες, ποτάμια, ρυάκια, πηγές, ρέματα και γενικότερα σε γλυκά/ υφάλμυρα νερά), του εξαιρετικά επικίνδυνου για τα αμφίβια μύκητα Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis που έχει ήδη εντοπιστεί σε πληθυσμούς βατράχων στη Θράκη (Βιστωνίδα) και τη δυτική Πελοπόννησο (Στροφυλιά).Η ταχύτητα εξάπλωσης του Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis σε συνδυασμό με την υψηλή μεταδοτικότητα και την εγνωσμένη θανατηφόρο του δράση, τον καθιστούν σημαντικότατη απειλή για όλα τα είδη των ελληνικών αμφιβίων. Καθώς δεν υπάρχουν ακόμη μέτρα για τη σωτηρία των ήδη προσβεβλημένων πληθυσμών, ο πιο αποτελεσματικός τρόπος αντιμετώπισης του μύκητα είναι ο περιορισμός της εξάπλωσής του.
